If there is a year we need to stop and thank a teacher, this is the year. This year especially, our teachers have gone above and beyond to make your child have a successful school year. Facing challenges that are once in a lifetime, our teachers have doubled down before, during, and after school hours planning for success. Some teachers even tested positive for Covid and still did their best under quarantine. So, take a moment this week, send a text, note, card, or even call a teacher and give them a big "THANK YOU!" I know I will.

Guy-Perkins High School is pleased to announce that the Mt. Olive Baptist Church will be hosting this year's 2021 Senior Baccalaureate Service this upcoming Sunday, May 2nd at 6:30 p.m. All seniors and their immediate family are invited to come celebrate this achievement in their child's life with a word of faith and inspiration.

Everyone had a great time at the Guy-Perkins FFA awards banquet and auction. Over 80 people had a great meal, recognized our students, and raised close to $6,000 for the program. Many thanks to our students, parents, and teacher sponsor, Mr. Bowie. We are T-BIRD STRONG!

From Mr. Barnes- I would like to remind students and parents about the dress code as warmer weather has started. You can refer to the student handbook which states our school district policy (4.25) for greater details. For boys, I want to stress the rule about no muscle shirts. They can only be worn as an undergarment. For girls, ripped jeans can not expose skin the length of a dollar bill above the knee cap. This is the same rule for shorts. Also, leggings and yoga pants are not considered pants in the regular definition. These garments are too form fitting to be worn by themselves. They worn under another piece of clothing that covers appropriate areas and maintains the same length. If a student is sent to the office for a dress code violation, parents/guardians will be contacted to bring different clothing to school. The office will have some clothing items for students to wear the rest of the school day if parents/guardians can't come to the school. Parents, please help the school in this matter.
