Guy-Perkins School District recently lost four (4) days of school due to inclement weather/poor road conditions. Since Alternative Methods of Instruction (AMI) days no longer count towards the required instructional minutes needed per week, our District must determine when to make up these days in the remaining portion of the 2023-24 school calendar.
Please remember that each day in the Guy-Perkins School District calendar (4-day week) counts as 1.25 days of instruction in a regular school calendar. This means that students have actually lost the equivalent of five (days) of instruction in the regular calendar prior to Atlas Testing in March/April.

The recent winter weather has caused changes in the Guy-Perkins sports schedule for the next few days. Check it out! Please note that the basketball games at Shirley have been cancelled.
Due to the Winter Weather Advisory in our area, both the Early Childhood Center and Overtime Program will be closed at Guy-Perkins on Monday, January 22. The Sr. basketball games at Scranton have also been postponed. Student and staff safety is a priority at this time so we appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Due to continued bad road conditions, Guy-Perkins School District will be closed January 19th. The daycare will be open. The basketball games with Shirley have been cancelled and will not be rescheduled. Please continue to be safe and warm.
The postponed JG, SG, SB basketball games at Scranton (Tuesday) have been rescheduled for Monday, January 22, 2024 at Scranton beginning at 5:00 PM.
Due to the condition of area roads and for the safety of staff and students, Guy-Perkins Schools will once again be closed on Thursday, January 17, 2024. District staff have been clearing parking lots and salting sidewalks. Higher temperatures tomorrow should give us a good chance to return to school on Friday. We will announce Friday's plans tomorrow afternoon.
Guy-Perkins Schools will be closed on Wednesday, January 17 due to continued poor road conditions, especially on side roads. The cold temperatures are making it extremely difficult for staff to clear sidewalks and parking lots on the Guy-Perkins campus. Stay safe and warm!
Guy-Perkins will be closed on Tuesday, January 16 due to poor road conditions from the winter weather. Basketball games for Tuesday and the Beta Club Conference on Thursday have also been postponed. A decision regarding school for Wednesday will be announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Guy-Perkins School District Pre-K Program will be closed Monday, January 15 in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr.'s holiday. Due to the impending winter weather forecasted, the Early Childhood Center will also be closed on Monday. Please remain safe during this time!
In 2023, Guy-Perkins transitioned to a 4-day week school calendar for its K-12 students. A recent survey of staff, students, and parents showed that 89% of the respondents were satisfied with the 4-day week schedule. The District will continue to use the 4-day week school calendar in 2024-25.

Guy-Perkins School District will be observing the AR Athletic Association's "Dead Day" requirement (three days) by closing all gyms and ball fields on campus from Saturday, December 23 to Monday, December 25. Student-athletes and community members may resume using gyms and ball fields on Tuesday, December 26, 2023.

A big THANK YOU goes out to Ms. Hayes for a wonderful Winter Concert from our junior and senior choir and band. For many of the students, it was their first time performing in front of an audience. Also, the students looked great in their Thunderbird shirts for the performance. We are looking forward to the spring for more exciting music from these students. Keep it up, students. Great things continue to happen in our music program.
The Guy Perkins FACS Department is proud to announce: Hogan Hicks, Vivik Bryant, Thomas Beard Lamb, Conner and Hunter Gordon completed their certification in ServSafe with excellent scores!
This week, during T-Bird time, we shared with the student body the announcement of Mrs. Donna Acre's retirement at the end of this semester. We celebrate with her the 17 1/2 years she has been with the Guy-Perkins School District. She has taught at the elementary and high school. Also, she has been the FBLA sponsor and class sponsor. Mr. Barnes stated, "She was the very first teacher I met when I came to Guy-Perkins in July. She and her husband were working on the business lab to get it ready for the upcoming school year. That is dedication." Thank you, Mrs. Acre, for your dedication to the Guy-Perkins School District, to the faculty and staff, and most importantly, to the students and families of our district.
