Guy-Perkins is excited to introduce Valerie Partain, who will be joining the Elementary team as the Dyslexia Interventionist. Valerie previously taught in the West Side (Greers Ferry) and Greenbrier School Districts and is entering her 17th year of teaching.
Valerie is married to Michael and has two adult children and one younger child who will be attending Guy-Perkins. Outside of her classroom work, she enjoys camping, kayaking, swimming, gardening, walking, and anything outdoors.
Valerie says her passion for teaching started when she was a little girl watching her best friend's mother, who was a teacher. "We would always use her old school materials to play 'school' with the neighborhood kids. As I grew older, I knew that I wanted to make a difference in the lives of my students."
Valerie recently attended a training and discovered a quote that she says truly sums up what she would like to accomplish this year at Guy-Perkins. "Our mission is to help students unlock their greatness! I want to encourage and inspire my students to believe they can achieve their dreams..."
