January is "School Board Recognition Month" and the Guy-Perkins School District spotlights Zone 5 Board Member - Matthew Haile. Mr. Haile is a Pipe-fitter with Union Pacific Railroad in North Little Rock and has served on the Guy-Perkins School Board for 3 1/2 years. He became interested in serving when Mr. Acre (Bosso) left the Board so he volunteered to be Mr. Acre's replacement.
Mr. Haile has continued to serve on the Board because he feels that it is important to his family and to the community. Over the next 3-5 years, Mr. Haile would like to see the district enrollment numbers grow to over 500 students; facilities continue to be improved; and employee salaries and benefits increase.
Mr. Haile is married to Bertize (20 years). They have a daughter, Libby (15 years-old), who is in 10th grade and attends Guy-Perkins High School where she plays basketball and softball for the Lady Thunderbirds.
