Susan

The Guy-Perkins School District Board of Education is proud to announce the selection of Susan McKinney as the next Superintendent of Schools following a 5-0 vote by the Board on Thursday night. McKinney, who currently serves as the district’s K-12 Principal for Teaching and Learning, will officially step into the Superintendent role upon the retirement of Dr. Joe Fisher, who has served as Superintendent since 2018. Dr. Fisher’s retirement will take effect on June 30, 2025.

Ms. McKinney brings a wealth of experience in educational leadership, curriculum development, federal programs, and instructional support. Her professional career includes serving as Literacy Coach at Two Rivers School District, Curriculum and Federal Programs Coordinator at Hector School District, and a leadership consultant with Above and Beyond the Core through the Arkansas Public School Resource Center (APSRC). She also spent over a decade in the classroom as an elementary teacher.

McKinney holds an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership and a Superintendent’s endorsement from Arkansas State University, along with a Master’s in Teaching, Leadership, and Learning from Arkansas Tech University.

"I am honored and incredibly grateful for the trust the Board has placed in me," said McKinney. "Guy-Perkins is a special place and I’m committed to building on our strong foundation by continuing to support our teachers, students, and parents. Together, we will keep Guy-Perkins moving forward to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed."
