Givan

The Guy-Perkins School Board has unanimously selected Crystal Givan, resident of the Twin Groves Community, to serve as the Zone 1 Board member for the 2024-25 school year. Crystal, along with Zone 1 resident Chris Humphrey, expressed interest in being considered to replace Ashley Ealy, whose Board term expires this month (February). Since there were no Zone 1 residents interested in running during the March Primary Elections, the remaining four Board Members were tasked with selecting someone to serve for the 2024-25 school year.

Background

Crystal, her mother, and her siblings all graduated from Guy-Perkins High School. Her children currently attend Guy-Perkins Schools where they enjoy the "closeness of being in a small-school setting." Crystal says that she is proud to serve in the footsteps of her Uncle Nathaniel Brown, who served as a Guy-Perkins School Board member for many years.

Crystal is "passionate about kids and more passionate about them learning." She feels that that by serving on the Guy-Perkins School Board, she can help the District continue to keep students "first" in all the decisions being made.

Crystal adds, "It takes a village to raise a family. The family-like atmosphere is great. I love the fact that I can send my kids to school and not have to worry about them. I know that if something happens at school, whether or not my children tell me, I am going to find out about it."

Crystal has worked in the retail business for 20 years and currently manages Cato Fashions in Conway. Her first official Guy-Perkins School Board meeting will be Thursday, March 18, 2024.
