The Guy-Perkins School Board voted unanimously during tonight's (Tuesday) special-called meeting to begin a "4-day week" school calendar starting in August 2023. The District surveyed its stakeholders during both the 2021-22 school year, and again this year determining that 71% of those surveyed were in support of a "4-day" calendar. The "4-day week" calendar (see below) will run Tuesday through Friday 7:45 PM to 4:00 PM each day and the OVERTIME After-school Program will run from 4:00 to 5:30 PM each day.

New in 2023-24 will be a Monday OVERTIME Program for students K-12 with buses running in the morning and afternoon and breakfast/lunch served for all students. This new OVERTIME program will provide a safe place for students to be on Mondays offering enrichment activities, extended literacy instruction, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) activities, and educational field trips.  High School students will also be able to participate in Hunter/Boater Education Training; Driver's Education Instruction; ACT Preparation Programs; and Farm-to-Table Agricultural Activities.

The District will be forming a guiding coalition group consisting of Elementary/High School students and parents, and Guy-Perkins staff and administrators to begin working on the transition from a "5-day" calendar to a "4-day" calendar.  More information will be coming out in the next few weeks from the guiding coalition. Stay tuned!
