The Guy-Perkins School District is pleased to announce the hiring of Cheryl Blue as the new K-12 Principal for Teaching and Learning, effective July 1, 2025. Blue will step into the role previously held by Susan McKinney, who will transition into her new position as the district's Superintendent.
Cheryl Blue brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to the Guy-Perkins team. With 24 years in the secondary mathematics classroom and three years as the Curriculum and Instruction Specialist at the Arkansas Public School Resource Center (APSRC), Blue has dedicated her career to advancing educational excellence across Arkansas. Most recently, she also served as the Director of the Teacher Leader Program with the Arkansas Leadership Academy helping educators statewide grow in their leadership capabilities.
When asked why she chose Guy-Perkins, Blue shared, “Guy is a community of heart, pride, and traditions. I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this community.” She looks forward to investing her time and talents in the district, with a clear vision for her first year: “My top priority is to build strong, trust-based relationships with students, staff, families, and the broader community. I believe that leadership starts with listening so my first goal is to understand the school culture through meaningful dialogue and active presence.”
Outside of her professional life, Blue enjoys spending time with her family. She and her husband, Garrett, reside in Greenbrier. They have two children—Amber, a physical therapist, and Nick, a business student at UCA—and one grandson, Theo, who is one year old and described as “full of smiles and cuteness.” In her free time, Cheryl enjoys working in her flowerbeds, reading in her hammock, and taking the occasional hike.
The Guy-Perkins School District is excited to welcome Cheryl Blue and looks forward to the leadership and passion she will bring to her new role. Go Thunderbirds!
