Dan Michael

January is "School Board Recognition Month" and the Guy-Perkins School District spotlights Zone 3 Board Member and Secretary - Dan Michael.  Mr. Michael currently works in the Maintenance Department at the Arkansas State Hospital in Little Rock and has served on the Guy-Perkins School Board for 5 years.  He is a retired Army Command Sergeant Major and a retired Federal Civil Service Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor and became interested in serving on the Board when he saw there was an opening and desired to help lead the school district.

Mr. Michael continues to serve on the Board during his semi-retirement.  Over the next 3-5 years, he would like to see the district enrollment numbers grow to over 350 students; both the elementary and high schools complete the designation process and become "Schools of Innovation"; and the high school raise ACT average composite scores to 26, or above.

Mr. Michael is married to Ruth, who volunteers each year to help provide decorations for the senior graduation ceremony.  Both Dan and Ruth have taken in numerous foreign exchange students and foster kids and enjoy spending time with their eight (8) grandchildren.

Thanks to Mr. Michael  for his service to our country and for all of the hard work and countless hours spent helping our staff, students, and district.  We could not be successful without him!
