We have had several phone calls from families asking about the process that our district uses to determine when and how long a student must quarantine away from school due to exposure to COVID-19. Below is the "signs and symptoms" flowchart that is required for us to use when making a decision about a student that has been exposed to the virus. In all cases, we contact the AR Department of Health (ADH) and AR Department of Education (ADE) to ensure that we are correctly following the quarantine guidelines. The district also monitors the COVID-positive data for our district found at https://achi.net/covid19/.
We strongly encourage families to be honest and forthright about their child's exposure to a COVID-positive person when speaking with school officials so that we can better protect ALL of our staff and students from exposure to the virus. Being inconvenienced does not take away the responsibility that families have to follow the ADH guidelines when children have been directly exposed to a COVID-positive person.
We encourage all families to continue socially-distancing themselves; wearing masks when social-distancing is not possible; and washing/sanitizing hands frequently. Our goal is to have ALL students back to school as soon as possible healthy and ready to learn. Please help us honor the ADH and ADE guidelines by following the required timelines for quarantine. If you have any questions about the COVID-19 processes or procedures, please call us at 679-7224.
