Like many other school districts across the nation, we too are experiencing supply chain issues and lack of delivery drivers. This may result in a reduced number of entrée choices available for breakfast and lunch until the supply chain issues are improved. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this time while our Registered Dieticians and Culinary Team develop menu substitutions, as needed. Rest assured a free breakfast and lunch will be available to all students. We encourage you to visit Nutrislice on a daily basis for the most up-to-date menus. Download the Nutrislice app, or visit lookup.nutrislice.com to view daily menus.

The Guy-Perkins School Board adopted an Emergency Communicable Diseases Control Plan tonight (Tuesday) requiring that all students, staff, and visitors to the district wear masks (face coverings). A copy of this plan can be accessed at https://tinyurl.com/fyyubsdn. This plan was created in response to district and community stakeholder feedback; current COVID-19 infection data; and the need to protect our student population, especially those under the age of 12 who are unable to receive a COVID-19 vaccination.

All parents of Guy-Perkins students are asked to complete the following "Ready for Learning" survey by Monday, August 2 to help inform the district of our students' needs and concerns: https://forms.gle/Q27527CbkYMWixVw7.
Just like last summer, Guy-Perkins students should be receiving in the mail a P-EBT card from the Department of Human Services that can be used to purchase food items. Some students may have already received their card and it is hoped by August 31 that all cards will have been mailed out to students' families. The dollar amount on the card is based on the numbers of days school was not in session due to Covid-19 related issues. Students may receive a one time benefit for the summer as well. We will keep families up to date as these benefits come out in the next few weeks. Please do not throw away any letter from the Department of Human Services. The call center does not have a list of students eligible, just what services are provided. Because our district was free to all students, all students are eligible.
Guy-Perkins School District encourages ALL families to join us in helping protect students and staff from COVID-19/Delta Variant as we begin the new school year. We encourage everyone to stay protected by being vaccinated, or by wearing a mask while at school and on buses. The district is working with the AR Department of Health to set up a vaccination clinic on campus within the next few weeks for students, as well as area residents. We will announce the date, time, and place as soon as it is available.

If there is a year we need to stop and thank a teacher, this is the year. This year especially, our teachers have gone above and beyond to make your child have a successful school year. Facing challenges that are once in a lifetime, our teachers have doubled down before, during, and after school hours planning for success. Some teachers even tested positive for Covid and still did their best under quarantine. So, take a moment this week, send a text, note, card, or even call a teacher and give them a big "THANK YOU!" I know I will.

From Mr. Barnes- I would like to remind students and parents about the dress code as warmer weather has started. You can refer to the student handbook which states our school district policy (4.25) for greater details. For boys, I want to stress the rule about no muscle shirts. They can only be worn as an undergarment. For girls, ripped jeans can not expose skin the length of a dollar bill above the knee cap. This is the same rule for shorts. Also, leggings and yoga pants are not considered pants in the regular definition. These garments are too form fitting to be worn by themselves. They worn under another piece of clothing that covers appropriate areas and maintains the same length. If a student is sent to the office for a dress code violation, parents/guardians will be contacted to bring different clothing to school. The office will have some clothing items for students to wear the rest of the school day if parents/guardians can't come to the school. Parents, please help the school in this matter.
We are having some issues with students using cell phones during school hours, and some students bullying others over cell phones. Students will turn their cell phones into the office each morning upon arrival to school and will be allowed to pick them up each afternoon at dismissal. If you need to get a message to your child, please call the office. If at any time a student has an emergency at school they will be allowed to use the office phone to contact a parent or guardian. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Tammy Murry by email (email@example.com), or phone (501-679-3509).

December 7, 2020 To All T-bird Families: Thank you for choosing the Guy-Perkins School District to provide educational services for your child in 2020-21! The safety of our students and employees is extremely important to the district. In order to maintain a safe environment, it is necessary for students and employees to practice the district’s emergency-response plan through periodic safety drills. This letter is to inform you that administrators and law enforcement officers will soon be conducting a “lock-down drill” with students and employees in all district buildings. This “lock-down” drill is designed to help district employees secure campus buildings and safely shelter all students, employees, and visitors. All perimeter doors to each building will be locked and will remain locked until law enforcement officers clear each classroom, gym, and office space. For everyone’s safety, no one will be allowed to enter, or leave a building until the “lock-down” drill has been completed. For the safety of your child, you are asked to: • Avoid social media posts. Correct information will be disseminated through our automated system as soon as possible following the drill; • Make sure that all contact information is current so that you can be reached without delay in the event of an emergency; and • Expect notification where to safely pick up your child (in the event of an emergency). Please remember that these “lock-down” drills are done to help the district maintain a safe place for students and employees to learn and work. If you have questions regarding this drill, please contact your school office, or the district administration office. Sincerely, Dr. Joe Fisher, Superintendent
